Belonging to the Secession style, the building of the Dacia Hotel in Satu Mare is one of the most beautiful buildings ever built in this style in Transilvania. Built on the site of the previous maiory of the town, that dated from the years 1768 - 1772, the project of the building was prized in a competition in architecture in Wien. As years passed, some well known cultural personalities signed in the hotel's book of honour : N. Iorga, L.Rebreanu, O. Goga, M.Sadoveanu. Though the building with an impressive and stately front makes you think of entering a somptously taken care of castle, you find the XX century atmosphere indoors: a 107 places modern hotel complex, in single rooms, in two-bed rooms and in appartments, restaurant with orchestra, day bar, terrace, reception and conference saloon, exchange office, all striving to satisfy the most exacting taste. In the building of the hotel there works the state philarmonic orchestra.
