General presentation

The Hotel Danube is situated on the banks of the River Danube in the European country of Romania. Located on a small peninsular with the Danube on one side and the nature reserves of the Somova lakes on the other, you could not ask for a more tranquil locality. The hotel is only accessible by boat, so there's no traffic and no noise — just a sense of being at one with nature, but at the same time allowing you to indulge in the comforts of a 4 star hotel. There are two towns close by. They are Somova which is a small town 2 miles away by boat and Tulcea which is one of the main towns in the region and is 8 miles away by boat. The hotel itself is located next to a world heritage site called the Danube Delta biosphere. The area is one of Europe's largest remaining natural wetlands and consists of a network of river channels, shallow bays and hundreds of lakes, interspersed with extensive marshes, reed-beds, wooded areas and islands. There are over 5,000 species of fauna and flora in the region including over 300 species of bird which migrate to the area each year to breed and over 75 varieties of fish ranging from Carp to Cat fish.
